Barbara A. Goff, M.D.
2008 Public Service Award Winner

Dr. Goff serves as Director, Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Washington and is a leader in research about the symptoms of ovarian cancer.

In 2007, she worked with GCF to develop the National Ovarian Cancer Symptoms Consensus Statement, in conjunction with the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists and the American Cancer Society. Endorsed by over 35 national organizations, this consensus acknowledges what ovarian cancer survivors had voiced for some time. Namely, that there are common symptoms of the disease that can lead to an earlier diagnosis of the deadliest gynecologic cancer.

Her research continues to determine how best to apply these symptoms in clinical settings with the hope of achieving earlier diagnosis of the disease when it is most curable.
